Founding principles

The Object of Rotary

Every project we run and every meeting we hold traces back to Rotary's founding purpose: to encourage and foster the ideal of service as the basis of worthwhile enterprise.

01 / Acquaintance

Knowing each other

Building relationships as an opportunity for service, so members truly understand one another's work and communities.

02 / Standards

High ethical standards

Recognising the worthiness of all useful occupations, and using each member's vocation as an opportunity to serve society.

03 / Everyday life

Service in daily life

Applying the ideal of service in personal, business and community life — not as an occasional act, but a habit of mind.

04 / Goodwill

World understanding

Advancing goodwill and peace through a worldwide fellowship united by service, across every profession and border.

The Four-Way Test

A standard we hold every decision to

Of the things we think, say or do — before any club decision, statement or project moves forward, we ask four questions.

  1. 01Is it the TRUTH?
  2. 02Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  3. 03Will it build GOODWILL and better friendships?
  4. 04Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
  5. Written by Rotarian Herbert J. Taylor in 1932, adopted by Rotary International in 1943 and used by clubs worldwide ever since.

How we serve

The five Avenues of Service

The framework for everything the club does — each event, project and partnership is planned through one of these lenses.

01

Club Service

Strengthening fellowship and making sure the club itself runs well, so members can do everything else.

02

Vocational Service

Practising integrity in our professions and using our skills to address the needs of society.

03

Community Service

Improving quality of life for people in Dubai and Kerala through hands-on local projects.

04

International Service

Expanding our reach across borders through humanitarian and educational partnerships.

05

Youth Service

Recognising the value of young leaders through mentorship and civic engagement programmes.
